When Bad Things Happen to Good Cake

So the Jello cake? Didn’t happen today. I got ready to take it out of the oven, and it slipped out of my clutches, and landed, upright, on my toe. My toe may not have survived, but the cake, miraculously, landed back in the pan, albeit in several pieces.

So on to Plan B:

Fresh Berry Trifle

1 vanilla or white cake, in a bunch of pieces (dropping on floor optional)

2 cups sour cream

1 large package of instant vanilla pudding mix

1 pint blueberries

1/2 pint raspberries

1/2 pint blackberries

2 cups whipped topping

1 can Redi Whip

First, mix the sour cream and the pudding mix together, until thoroughly blended. Keep in refrigerator until ready to use.

Crumble 1/2 the cake in the bottom of a large serving bowl, punch bowl, or trifle doohickey someone got you for your wedding. Spread whipped topping over the cake, and drop 1/2 the blueberries, blackberries and raspberries on top. Crumble the rest of the cake on top, then your vanilla pudding/sour cream mixture. Ring the edge of your trifle with Redi Whip, and garnish with the rest of the berries. Keep in the fridge til ready to serve.
